Samatvam Yoga Uchayate – Harmony is called Yoga, says Bhagavad-Gita.
Your body, mind and spirit are all intimately interconnected. Because of this, every disease occurs on physical, emotional and spiritual level. Yoga is designed to address all of these levels and not just the physical ones. If we limit our treatments on physical levels only, the diseases, tends to come back again or the treatments become worse than the illness. If we also address the emotional and spiritual dimensions, then the physical body often begins to heal as well. Yoga brings harmony between your mind, body and spirit.
According to mythical tradition, Shiva is said to be the founder of yoga and parvati, his first disciple. Lord Shiva is considered to be the symbol or embodiment of supreme consciousness. Paravati represents supreme knowledge, will and action, and is responsible for all creation. Yoga arose at the beginning of human civilization when humankind first realized their spiritual potential and began to evolve techniques to develop it.
